Does this sound like you?

You need to put together a presentation or a workshop but you have no idea how much to include, or in what order. Surely there's some sort of structure to use to make sure it's not too much, too little or completely off base?

Your powerpoint presentation slides are full of text, you end up reading half of what's on them, and you KNOW it's more of a lecture than a workshop and that's NOT how you want your audience to feel.

When you present, you know you're not engaging the audience as much as you could be, it feels like it's all YOU talking and blank stares coming back at you, the room is dead quiet and the atmosphere is a bit uncomfortable.

With the Delivery Skills Course you will learn how to:

  • Lesson 1: pique your clients interest and hold their attention right to the end of your presentation.
  •

  • Lesson 2: avoid death by PowerPoint by creating visual aids that enhance your presentations.
  •

  • Lesson 3: ensure your clients are interacting with you, and asking questions and engaging with the tasks you set.
  •

  • Lesson 4: enhance user experience through good information and document design.

No-one wants to be the Dander 500 guy right?

The presenter who makes everyone fall asleep, snigger under their breath or walk away warning others not to waste their time with you (watch the video to see what I mean - at least you know you'll get a giggle!) This short course is going to show you how to avoid being that presenter. Video used with permission from the gorgeous guys at brainrules.net.

In this short course we're going to discuss how to create and deliver content that engages, inspires and motivates your clients. The introductory module is an overview of why it's not just about having a killer personality when it comes to delivering a presentation that knocks your audience's socks off.

If you're not engaging your audience? Your content won't be having the impact you know it can have, and there's a fair chance they'll drift off, start creating a mental shopping list, and leave disappointed. Not an ideal way to get raving reviews. Right?

Fancy a free taste test of what's in this short course? This brief introduction will give you an overview of how to apply these 3 steps in your product development plans. Click on the images below and experience the learnings the way that is best for YOU! Watch the video, read the transcript, or just listen to the audio - and yep! It's all free! No need to download or sign up for anything.

When you're done promising yourself you'll never be the Dander 500 guy, please start here.

Learn how to structure a presentation for maximum audience engagement. It's not just about having an introduction and a conclusion, it's about setting up the learning experience so your clients are engaged, inspired and motivated to get to the end of your presentation - and most of it, has nothing to do with whether you're a born entertainer...

In fact, using an effective structure, can help you avoid telling your clients things they already know, wasting their time and generally making them wonder why they're even working with you. Even with exactly the same content, the way you structure the lead in and the wrap up can have completely the opposite effect on your clients.

Fancy my 5 top tips instead of the full lesson? Have a read of this article that takes you through the basics of how to make Engaging, Motivating Webinars & Instructional Tutorials - and believe me when I say I learnt a lot of this the hard way - including how to waste a phenomenal amount of time by not having a good system in place when I was batching the videos for these courses!

Learn how to create visual aids that enhance and help you while you're presenting, not distract or detract from the message you're trying to get across to your audience.

Heard of Death by PowerPoint? Been bored out of your mind or confused to WaggaWagga and back thanks to slides that were a mess, full of way too much information or an exact copy of what the presenter was saying to you? You don't need to be that presenter. Join me in saving the world from more pointless torture!

About to create a batch of presentations but don't want the full lesson? This article will take you through the absolute basics when it comes to creating instructional videos - which software you need and how to create a batching system that will be highly efficient. If that's not enough, this video is a guaranteed giggle - a blooper reel called 'What really happens when you try to take professional videos'. Laugh. Go on. If you're going to start producing videos you'll need to!

Learn how to rate and improve your delivery skills, whether you're presenting online or face to face.

There are three main components of delivering a killer presentation, and here's a hint - it has nothing to do with whether you're a born entertainer. More importantly, it's about your content and your confidence with speaking to a group. If you've got great content (but not a lot of speaking confidence), you'll end up sounding like a boring lecturer. If you've got great speaking confidence but you're not really sure about your content, you'll come across as an entertainer (who doesn't really know what they're talking about). Finding that sweet spot and building rapport with your audience is the key, and this lesson will give you all the tips on how to go about it.

Want my biggest tip for free? It's all about demonstrating, rather than explaining. Yep. Really doesn't matter what you're teaching, a picture paints a thousand words and the more you can paint, the less you'll have to lecture about it. Read more about it here.

3.4 Guest expert interview with Jasmine Andrews

BONUS! I asked Jasmine to talk with us about supporting the learner experience through good information and document design. There's nothing worse than having great content, but being turned off by the way it's presented - which is all too often the case in the online world!

Her background in Digital Strategy, Training Development, Technical Writing and as a Content Specialist, lends itself perfectly to helping us gain a better understanding of how to create worksheets, booklets and course webpages that are easy to navigate, interpret and ultimately learn from.

Don't believe me that this UX thing is important? It took A WHOLE YEAR to get this Library off the ground simply because the User Experience was just not right - and had to keep being remodelled until it worked properly. I learnt the hard way. You don't have to as well. Get the low down in this article.

Client feedback...

quotes-leftMaria! Just wanted to let you know how the workshop went ... IT WAS AWESOME!!!! ..... They took notes! They asked questions! They talked to me and each other! They gathered together in the morning tea break and chatted to each other about their projects! They all thanked me individually as they left. Then they posted a string of amazing testimonials for me on social media and the website ...  Woooohoooo!!!  So now, of course, my brain is exploding with 'what's next'.

Thank you thank you thank you thank you .... just so glad I did this with you - it seriously made all the difference. To the content, to the benefit they got, to how I felt. The one thing I really felt from the workshop was just how amazing the interaction was....  I was blown away by how well the techniques and strategies you'd taught me worked, how much better and more confident it made me at delivering the workshop - and how much it improved attendee experience. I also love the butt kicks you gave me a long the way, and how our time together helped keep me accountable to creating this workshop methodically and intentionally (rather than last minute and in a panic!) Love your work!
